College of Lost Hymns

College of Lost Hymns

3rd-level College of Lost Hymns feature

Before the Unveiling, sacred music filled temples and cathedrals, praising gods that answered prayers. Now the gods are silent, but the songs remain. Bards of the College of Lost Hymns preserve these pre-Unveiling hymns, liturgical chants, and prayers. Strangely, the magic still works—whether powered by the Old Ones, the absent gods, or sheer faith itself is unclear.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of Lost Hymns at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Religion skill if you don't already have it. Additionally, you learn two cleric cantrips of your choice. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these cantrips.

Sacred Inspiration

At 3rd level, your Bardic Inspiration carries a touch of divine power. When a creature uses your Bardic Inspiration die and rolls the maximum value, it regains hit points equal to your Charisma modifier + your proficiency bonus.

Additionally, when you grant Bardic Inspiration to a creature, you can choose for that creature to also gain a +1 bonus to AC until it uses the Bardic Inspiration die or until 10 minutes have passed.

Hymn of Warding

At 6th level, you can sing a protective hymn from before the Unveiling. As a bonus action, you can expend one use of Bardic Inspiration to grant yourself or one creature within 30 feet of you that can hear you temporary hit points equal to your Bardic Inspiration die + your Charisma modifier.

While a creature has these temporary hit points, it has advantage on saving throws against being frightened.

Liturgical Magic

At 6th level, you've learned to weave cleric magic into your performances. Choose three cleric spells. One must be 1st level, one must be 2nd level, and one must be 3rd level. You add these spells to your list of known spells, and they count as bard spells for you. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

When you reach 10th level, you can choose one additional cleric spell of 4th level or lower. When you reach 14th level, you can choose one additional cleric spell of 5th level or lower.

Miracle Song

At 14th level, you can channel something beyond mortal understanding through your music—whether divine, profane, or merely desperate hope. As an action, you can expend a spell slot of 5th level or higher and sing a prayer. Choose one:

  • Hymn of Restoration: Up to six creatures of your choice within 60 feet regain hit points equal to 4d10 + your Charisma modifier and can immediately end one condition affecting them (blinded, deafened, paralyzed, or poisoned).
  • Canticle of Smiting: Up to six creatures of your choice within 60 feet must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 6d10 radiant damage and is blinded until the end of your next turn. On a successful save, the creature takes half damage and isn't blinded.
  • Litany of Protection: Up to six creatures of your choice within 60 feet gain resistance to all damage until the start of your next turn.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
