The Grafted are humans who have integrated pre-Unveiling technology directly into their bodies. Some were grafted involuntarily—victims of Veil Engine accidents or mad experiments. Others sought augmentation deliberately, trading flesh for power. The process is painful, expensive, and permanent, but it grants capabilities no unmodified human can match.
Grafted are most common in Lirath Vale, where the Council of Grafted rules, but they can be found in any Domain where technology is available. They face suspicion in some places, reverence in others, and pity from those who see their augmentations as a curse.
Grafted Traits
Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 1, and two other ability scores of your choice each increase by 1.
Age. Grafted mature at the same rate as humans, but their augmentations can extend their lifespan to 120 years or more. Some ancient Grafted are over 150 years old.
Alignment. Grafted tend toward lawful alignments, valuing efficiency and self-improvement, but exceptions exist. The process attracts both idealists seeking transcendence and desperate souls seeking power at any cost.
Size. Grafted humans are Medium, though their augmentations may make them slightly heavier than baseline humans.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Integrated Technology. Your body contains technological implants. You have proficiency with one artisan's tool or one type of vehicle (your choice), representing integrated systems. Additionally, you can use your body to interface with pre-Unveiling technology—you have advantage on ability checks made to operate, repair, or understand such devices.
Grafted Augmentation. At character creation, choose one augmentation from the list below. You gain an additional augmentation at 5th level. You can work with your DM to design custom augmentations.
