The Ghost of Vael (The Martyred Engineer)

The Ghost of Vael (The Martyred Engineer)

She Who Tried to Stop It, The Warning Unheeded, The Failed Savior

Nature: Dr. Vael was a lead engineer on the Veil Engine project who realized the danger too late. She died trying to shut down the engines during the Unveiling. Her ghost—or something claiming to be her—still appears, warning against hubris and technological overreach.

Appearance: A spectral woman in engineering coveralls, equations floating around her, looking eternally exhausted and sad. Sometimes appears in mirrors, screens, or pools of oil.

Cleric Domains: Knowledge, Grave, Twilight
Warlock Patrons: Undying or Great Old One (if "Vael" is actually something else wearing her face)
Philosophy: Learn from failure. Hubris destroys. Technology must be respected, not worshipped. The Unveiling was preventable. We must not repeat it.

Followers: Ruin Delvers who see her warnings in ruins, engineers wracked by guilt, scholars trying to prevent another Unveiling, Timeless Ones who knew her
Symbols: Warning signs, broken engine diagrams, equations with red crosses through them
Rituals: Confession of technical errors, warnings written and displayed, study of Unveiling to understand failure

Personality (for Warlocks): Vael is sad, urgent, apologetic. She shares technical knowledge but warns against using it. Warlocks feel her guilt and desperation.

Roleplaying a Follower:
- You're deeply cautious about technology
- You study the Unveiling obsessively
- You feel guilt about humanity's hubris (even if you weren't born yet)
- You try to warn others but feel unheeded
- You wonder if Vael is real or just collective guilt given form
