Veil-Touched are those warped by direct, prolonged exposure to tears in reality. This might have occurred during the Unveiling, or more recently near active Veil Engines, unstable Mist Corridors, or aberration incursions. The dimensional energies didn't kill them—instead, they were changed, gaining the ability to manipulate reality in small but significant ways.
Veil-Touched are disturbing to be around. Shadows fall wrong near them. Reflections don't quite match. Objects in their vicinity occasionally behave strangely. They themselves often perceive the world differently—seeing possibilities, alternate timelines, or the space between moments.
Veil-Touched Traits
Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence score increases by 1, your Wisdom score increases by 1, and your Charisma score increases by 1.
Age. Veil-Touched age unpredictably. Some appear to age normally, others don't age at all, and a few age in reverse or erratically. Most live 60-100 years, though time itself is strange for them.
Alignment. Veil-Touched tend toward chaotic alignments, as their warped perceptions make rigid structures difficult to maintain. Many struggle to stay grounded in consensus reality.
Size. Veil-Touched are Medium, similar to humans.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Reality Slip. As a bonus action, you can briefly slip partially out of phase with reality. Until the end of your turn, you gain resistance to all damage and can move through solid objects and other creatures as if they were difficult terrain. If you end your turn inside a solid object, you are shunted to the nearest unoccupied space and take 1d10 force damage. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
