Revenant

Revenant

"Death came for me. I refused."

Revenants are the undead who refused to stay dead. Whether through force of will, dark magic, or intervention by powers beyond mortal ken, they returned—body, soul, and consciousness intact. Unlike mindless zombies or feral ghouls, Revenants retain their intelligence, personality, and memories.

Most Revenants died during or shortly after the Unveiling. Some chose undeath to survive; others had it forced upon them. A few are more recent, raised by necromancers or cults but managing to break free with their minds intact. Revenants are rare, often hidden, and universally disturbing to the living. In Dathmor, under the rule of the undead Saint Carmael, they are more accepted.

Revenant Traits

Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Intelligence or Wisdom score increases by 1 (your choice).

Age. Revenants do not age. Most are between 200-220 years old, having died during the Unveiling, though younger Revenants exist.

Alignment. Revenants span all alignments. Undeath doesn't inherently corrupt, but the weight of immortality and the circumstances of their deaths often push them toward extremes.

Size. Revenants retain their living height and build, though they often lose weight as their bodies require no sustenance. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Undead Nature. You are an Undead creature. You do not need to eat, drink, breathe, or sleep, though you can do these things if you wish. Instead of sleeping, you enter an inactive state for 4 hours each day, during which you remain semiconscious. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit a human would from 8 hours of sleep.

Deathless Resilience. You have resistance to necrotic damage and poison damage, and you have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned. Additionally, you have advantage on death saving throws.

Unbreathing. You cannot suffocate, drown, or be affected
